LIPID ANALYSIS

Six major sections deal with various aspects of the analysis of lipids from chromatography to nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. There is also a substantial section providing comprehensive lists of references on different aspects of lipid analysis, together with a current awareness service. Most of the articles were written by Dr William (Bill) W. Christie but with handsome contributions from Frank Gunstone, Gerhard Knothe and Boryana Nikolova-Damyanova.

• Mass spectrometry of fatty acid derivatives
  This section contains over 580 mass spectra of fatty acid derivatives of various kinds (and some related lipids) together with a tutorial on the interpretation of each, an extensive bibliography, and practical advice on methods. Archive pages now contain more than 1700 mass spectra. © W.W. Christie.

• Selected topics in the analysis of lipids
  A number of short articles on analysis originally for the journal 'Lipid Technology' but now greatly updated, with longer review articles from 'Advances in Lipid Methodology - One and Two' (P.J. Barnes & Associates).

• NMR chemical shifts for fatty acids and their derivatives
  These articles by guest authors Frank Gunstone and Gerhard Knothe detail the chemical shifts for a wide range of fatty acids and their derivatives.

• Silver ion chromatography of lipids
  These articles by Boryana Nikolova-Damyanova and Bill Christie deal with both theoretical and practical aspects of this important topic. The main item is an important review of the technique, but other short topics will be added as time permits.

• Gas Chromatography and Lipids
  The full text of the book 'Gas Chromatography and Lipids' (W.W. Christie, Oily Press) is here in compact accessible sections.

• Literature surveys of analytical methodology
  Lists of references by year and topic (and mass spectrometry especially), including a current awareness service. The most recent references are here...
