WHAT'S NEW?

Updates to our web pages:

There are occasional problems with large files and Internet Explorer 6  (click the 'refresh' button to correct). Internet Explorer Version 7 and Firefox work perfectly.

New A completely new section is a major event for the Lipid Library, and our colleague Frank Gunstone has now obliged by providing a series of web pages dealing with oils and fats as commodities. They cover the major oils and fats and the major countries/regions where these commodities are produced, traded (exports and imports), and consumed for food and non-food purposes.

blogOccasionally, papers catch my eye that I feel ought to receive wider notice. In order to do justice to these I have started a LIPID BLOG page. All decisions to select papers are obviously highly personal. Items may be added at any time, and will be removed after about 2 to 3 months.

In the section - About Lipids, web pages continue to be updated as new information becomes available. The latest document deals with Archaeal ether lipids (replacing a brief section elsewhere).

In the Mass spectrometry section, all the documents are currently undergoing a revision. Those for the introductory pages and for mass spectrometry of methyl and picolinyl ester, and pyrrolidide and DMOX derivatives have been completed. The page on cyclic fatty acids was becoming unwieldy and has now been divided into two, one dealing with cyclopropy/enyl fatty acids and the other with fatty acids with 5/5-membered rings new document - 11/5/08. In particular, I am making a special effort to ensure that all appropriate references are cited. We have now reached the milestone of 1729 spectra archived here for your reference, and we continue to add spectra to the Archive pages as they become available to us. A new document on mass spectra of dicarboxylic acids has now been added  new document - 23/4/08

Our literature Service on Lipid Analysis gives regular updates on references. It constitutes a current awareness service, revised monthly. You can access the most recent references (Updated: 29/4/08) here...., or go to the Literature Service menu. It is an interesting statistic that approximately one quarter of all papers we list now deal with electrospray mass spectrometry.
